It argues that the facilities provided by the house facilitated the continuing development of the Speaker\u2019s role, and the growth of their political stature.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more on Speaker&#8217;s House you can read Murray&#8217;s short article <a href=\"http:\/\/\u2018A palace within a Palace\u2019: an introduction to the Speaker\u2019s House\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8216;\u2018A palace within a Palace\u2019: an introduction to the Speaker\u2019s House&#8217; here.<\/a><br><br><strong>Dr Murray Tremellen<\/strong>&nbsp;graduated from the University of York with a PhD in History of Art in 2023. His interdisciplinary research explored the history of the first Speaker\u2019s House from both political and architectural perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His wider interests span eighteenth-, nineteenth- and twentieth-century architecture. He has also published research on the architecture of the Southern Railway.
